I U.S. TO LIVESTREAM EXECUTION
The Pentagon will livestream the December 3 firing squad execution of Nidal Hasan. The execution will be the first military execution since 1961 and the first public execution since the 1930s. The U.S. has never streamed or broadcast an execution before. Hasan was convicted on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the November 5, 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood, TX. He was serving as an Army major and psychiatrist at the time. Hasan said his shooting was an act of jihad. It occurred weeks before he was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan.

I INVESTIGATION INTO RUSSIAN PLAGUE
The State Department issued a new travel advisory warning citizens against going to Russia after a lab technician at a plague research lab died from suspected pneumonic plague. Media reports indicate Russia has put at least 200 other people associated with the lab and staff under quarantine. The World Health Organization and other countries are seeking more information. Leaders have questioned whether Russia followed a law called the International Health Regulations, which require countries to share health information that could have international implications. Russia insists that there is no health emergency.

I JUDGE EXTENDS BLOCK ON WHITE HOUSE MEDIA BAN
A federal judge temporarily extended a block on the White House’s ban of three media outlets. President Donald Trump issued the ban, saying the outlets should not be allowed to cover him over what he has called “fake news” that threatens national security. The outlets CNN, Politico, and MS NOW sued, arguing the ban violates the First Amendment. The judge is considering a longer-lasting injunction and is expected to rule by Tuesday.

I USS LINCOLN RETURNS HOME
The USS Lincoln has returned home to San Diego after a record-length 10-month deployment at sea. It spent 264 days without a port call, breaking the previous modern record set by the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in 2020. The carrier became the subject of controversy after reports of widespread mental health challenges abroad related to the length of its deployment. Stars & Stripes and the Navy Times reported families and sailors complaining of food and supply shortages, water and plumbing problems, and worsening morale. The ship deployed to the Persian Gulf to support operations in the Iran War. It began its journey home on August 17 and was replaced by the USS George Washington.

I PRESIDENT TRUMP ANNOUNCES INVESTIGATION OF FED GOVERNOR
On Friday, President Trump announced the White House had formed a committee to investigate Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. The committee will hold a hearing on whether to fire her over unproven accusations that she committed mortgage fraud. President Trump tried to fire Cook in August 2025, but a Supreme Court decision this summer blocked her termination, finding that she could be removed only for cause. The Court’s decision did not articulate what constitutes cause. Cook’s term runs through 2038.
